Domestic Carpets

Craig Sargeant and the team at Sargeant Carpets are domestic carpet specialists and we know that choosing the right flooring for your home is a big decision, so we are here to help.  Our decades of experience mean that we know how particular styles perform over time, and which works best in different rooms.

We offer a huge choice in our Bognor Regis showroom, and have samples of the latest on-trend patterns and colourways alongside more traditional designs.

COSY

A traditional deep pile carpet gives a luxurious, cosy feel to your room and we offer both tufted and pure wool options.

CHOICE

We stock carpets from many different suppliers giving you a huge choice of designs whether you are looking for a budget flooring or high quality finish.

GUARANTEES

We supply carpets from manufacturers who offer up to 20 year guarantees against wear, stains and manufacturing faults.

CLEANABILITY

Many modern carpets have an inbuilt resistance to normal household staining, and bleach-cleanable styles are available which allow the toughest stains to be removed.

SAFE

Carpets offer the best slip-resistant finish for your room, minimising falls which are more likely to occur on wooden floors. This can be vital for the elderly or families with young children.

NOISE REDUCTION

Since carpets absorb sounds, they offer great noise reduction properties which is especially useful in busy households and when working from home.

Tufted Carpets

Most modern carpets are tufted which means that yarn is pushed through a backing fabric to create loops or tufts.  The tufts are held in place by adhesive and are available in a number of different finishes including twist, loop pile, bonded and velvet.

The length of the pile can vary between 5mm for a velvet finish to 50mm for a shagpile.  Frieze carpets are bonded together and have a dense pile which is ideal for high traffic areas as they are durable and hide footprints and dust.   Saxony textures offer an elegant finish which is ideal for an occasional room as they show footprints and vacuum marks very easily.

Tufted carpets are dyed to produce a range of colours and patterns to suit any taste.  They are the more cost-effective choice but don’t have the durability of a woven carpet.

Woven Carpets

Woven carpets are some of the finest produced today, by traditional manufacturers such as Axminster Carpets and Wilton Carpets.  The backing of a woven carpet forms an integral part of the carpet, unlike a tufted product where the backing is glued on.  Woven carpets are extremely hardwearing, withstanding many years of wear and tear.   High quality wool is naturally dirt resistant and as it holds onto dust until it is vacuumed.  It is also hypoallergenic, reducing the fine particles which cause irritation.  We use suppliers such as Ulster Carpets for Wilton Carpets, Hugh Mackay Carpets, Axminster Carpets and Ulster Carpets for Axminster.

Felt Back Carpet

Felt back carpets are a cost-effective option as the felt back forms an integral underlay, making it ideal for rental properties and caravans.  We offer felt back carpets from manufacturers including Furlong, Regency Carefree Carpets, Balta Carpets and Associated Weavers Carpets.

Secondary Backed Carpet

A secondary back carpet is the standard finish where the primary layer containing the tufts is backed with a secondary layer to give it security and stability.  Secondary backed carpet is used with a separate underlay and is ideal for all areas of the home.  It is available in a range of quality options from suppliers such as Cormar Carpets, Associated Weavers Carpets and Adam Carpets.

Hessian Backed Carpet

Hessian backed carpets are another type of secondary backed carpets where hessian is used instead of a man-made scrim stuck to the backing.  Hessian backed carpets are a traditional style and are only used by a few suppliers due to the low availability of the materials and high cost.  Hessian backed carpets are a mid range to high end option and we use manufacturers such as Penthouse Carpets and Mayfield Carpets.

 Polypropylene Carpet

Polypropylene carpets come in loop pile carpets and twist pile carpets.   Polypropylene loop pile carpets are ideal for rental properties or medium traffic areas as the pile is short.  This means that it won’t show any flattening and is easy to clean.

Polypropylene twist pile carpets are similar to the loop pile version but deliver a more homely feel underfoot.  However, they will show a degree of flattening when compared with the loop pile option.

Polypropylene carpets are ideal for busy homes as they are practical, fade resistant, stain resistant and bleach cleanable.  They are a great, affordable option and our suppliers include Balta Carpets, Associated Weavers Carpets, Condor Carpets, Regency Carefree, Abingdon Carpets, Cormar Carpets, and Furlong.
